On January 21st, deputies with the Holmes County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call about a reckless driver on I-10.
The vehicle in question was located, and deputies initiated a traffic stop.
Contact was made with the driver, Evan Root, of Defuniak Springs.
During the traffic stop, deputies observed Root pick up a bag containing a substance that was eventually identified as cocaine.
An inventory of the vehicle’s contents prior to towing revealed multiple individual packs of buprenorphine and naloxone sublingual films.
Evan Root was arrested and transported to the Holmes County Jail.
He is charged with possession of cocaine and possession of buprenorphine and naloxone sublingual films.
