Yesterday, Meta, the owner of Facebook and Instagram, declared that President Trump‘s accounts on both platforms will be reactivated in the near future.
They additionally affirmed that measures will be taken to stop any potential recurrences of the same type of behavior.
Some working on the former president‘s campaign have indicated that he sent a letter to Meta expressing his wish to return to either platform.
However, it is uncertain whether or not he will actually begin posting again.
Meta stated on its website, upon his reinstatement, “For the public to be able to make informed decisions, they should be able to hear what politicians are saying.”
If Trump were to post anything that goes against the established protocols, he could be suspended for a period of one month up to two years, following his suspension from both accounts in 2021 for referring to the rioters of January 6th as “great patriots.”
