On Monday, February 6, 2023, Jackson County, Florida Sheriff’s Office deputies responded to an address in Round Lake in reference to a domestic disturbance.
Throughout the course of the investigation, it was determined that the suspect, Ricky L. Schrader, struck the victim in the face and choked her to a point where she could not breathe.
Schrader fled the area on foot before deputies arrived, and the victim stated that Schrader was armed with a knife and axe handle.
A responding deputy spotted Schrader on the side of Highway 231, where he then fled into the woods.
A perimeter was established, and the JCSO K-9 Tracking Unit was dispatched.
After an approximate 2-mile track, Schrader was located and taken into custody.
Ricky Schrader was arrested and is being charged with Domestic Battery by Strangulation and Resisting Arrest.
The investigation is currently on-going and further charges could be filed in this case.
