Lorena Jane Shumaker, 87 Passes on February 8, 2023, in Pensacola, Florida

Lorena “Jane” Shumaker (87) passed away peacefully February 8, 2023, in Pensacola, FL due to Alzheimer’s Disease. For the last 5 years, Jane has been a resident of Arcadia Health & Rehabilitation in Pensacola, FL where she was lovingly cared for.

Jane was born January 21, 1936, to the late William Arnold Reynolds and Maple Juanita Ammons Reynolds in Fairview, West Virginia. Jane was the younger sister of Viola Reynolds Sloan. On February 2, 1948, Jane was buried with Christ in Baptism in Fairmont, West Virginia by Evangelist Fred Dennis.

Jane loved to quilt, crochet, and sew. She graduated Fairview High School in 1953, attended Fairmont State College, Fairmont, West Virginia. She attended Elnora’s Beauty College, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma and GulfCoast Community College, Panama City, Fl.

Jane became an E.M.T. and EKG Tech. She has been a member of First Baptist Chipley since 2008 where she was very involved in her Sunday School class. During her stay at Arcadia, Jane completely enjoyed singing in the choir.

Jane married William E. Shumaker (Bill) February 14, 1954, in Washington, D.C. Bill and Jane resided in several cities, including Washington DC, Mobile ALA, Wiggins MISS, Oklahoma City OKLA, Panama City, FL and Fort Belvoir, VA. They resided in Chipley for more than 35 years. Their 62-year union was blessed with 5 children: 3 boys and 2 girls.

Jane is preceded in death by her parents, Arnold, and Juanita Reynolds of Fairview WVA; husband, Bill Shumaker of Chipley; her sister, Viola Sloan of Rosebud, AR; one daughter, Rebekah Jane Shumaker; one son, Daniel Eric Shumaker of Chipley; daughter-in-law Linda Shumaker; two granddaughters, Alethia Shumaker, and Jennifer Shumaker; one grandson, Joshua Shumaker.

Jane leaves to cherish her memory and celebrate her life, the remaining 3 children:  David Edward Shumaker of Mobile ALA; Dawn Esther Shumaker Smith of Pensacola; William Timothy Shumaker of Anniston ALA.

Four granddaughters: Rebecca Eidt of Mobile; Priscilla Mims of Pensacola; Brittanny Shumaker of Anniston; Tabitha Bunge-Shumaker of Newton, ALA.  Two grandsons: Paul Mims of Pensacola and Andrew Shumaker of Panama City.

Five great-grandsons: Jacob Greene, Bryce Mims, Maddox Mims, Oliver Mims, and Legend Mims. Two great-granddaughters: Arya Eidt and Eden Eidt.

Loving brother-in-law & sister-in-law, Orren & Bobbie Shumaker of Dothan ALA. Nine nieces & nephews, numerous cousins, and other relatives.

Services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, February 17, 2023, at First Baptist Chipley, Mike Orr will officiate. Family will receive friends at First Baptist Chipley sanctuary beginning at 10:00 a.m. 

Interment will be at Shiloh Baptist Church, 1976 Shiloh Lane, Chipley, Fl 32428. In lieu of flowers, Jane requested contributions to First Baptist Chipley building fund1300 South Blvd, Chipley, Fl 32428 or the family also recommends a contribution in Jane’s memory to your favorite charity.
