South Dakota State Representative Erin Healy was reportedly angered by the South Dakota Family Policy Council‘s testimony in favor of natural families.
State Rep. Healy slammed Family Heritage Alliance‘s “dangerous and un–American“ belief that kids are safest in married–parent families on Monday, February 13, 2023, on Twitter.
Toddlers living with a stepparent are 40x more likely to be abused, and children living with an unrelated parent are 50x more likely to be killed than those living with biological parents, according to Schitzman & Ewigman, published in 2005.
Jay Richards of the Heritage Foundation replied to the success of natural family‘s science being “well established, uncontroversial and not un–American to believe,” questioning “how sealed does one‘s echo chamber have to be to tweet something like this?”
Healy had criticized the defenders of the natural family, calling them “fundamentalist groups“ and “extremists“. She expressed disappointment that the House committee had voted down H.B. 1092, a bill that would redefine marriage as any union between two people.
