Former Lynn Haven, Florida Mayor Margo Anderson awaits sentencing this week after she took a plea bargain deal which dropped all but a single remaining charge, of lying to federal investigators.
Originally charged with a multitude of offenses along with co-defendant James Finch, Margo took a plea deal this week which might result in her serving no jail time and paying a fine along with probation time.
Anderson now faces a maximum sentence of five years in prison followed by three years of probation and a $250,000 fine, but officials have publicly and privately confirmed that she may serve no time when the deal shakes out.
With this week’s activity in the case, observers have questioned the final disposition of James Finch, after all other defendants in the case have [pleaded either guilty or ‘no contest’ to their respective charges.
Finch, owner of Phoenix Construction in Lyn Haven, Florida, faces one conspiracy charge and one bribery charge, with his trial date currently postponed until March 13.
Originally facing a multitude of charges up to and including being part of a massive criminal conspiracy, Finch has held fast to his assertion that he did no wrong, and his affirmation is slowly holding true as the government, along with local media, fails to successfully prosecute him.
