Washington County, Florida Sheriff’s Office Arrests Alex Ray Baker, 18, of Bonifay, Florida on Burglary and Resisting Arrest, Leaving Scene

A Holmes County man was taken into custody on felony charges after a vehicle is found on its roof in the middle of the road.
 
On February 19, 2023, a Washington County Sheriff’s deputy responded to an agency assist with Holmes County near the area of Bobcat Ln. and Jackson Pit Road.
 
Deputies from both agencies located a vehicle overturned in the middle of the road with no one inside.
 
Deputies searched the surrounding area and were unable to locate anyone.
 
Deputies from Holmes County made contact with Alex Ray Baker, 18, of Bonifay who was a suspect in an unrelated battery case out of Holmes County and stated he was in a vehicle accident in the area and was impaled by a stick.
 
In efforts to locate the driver, Washington CI K-9 team was activated and FHP notified.
 
The K-9 team was able to pick up a track and led deputies to an abandoned residence on St. Mary’s Rd. where a male subject is spotted inside the residence and confirmed to be Baker.
 
Baker was taken into custody where he later admitted to being the driver of the vehicle when it crashed, leaving the scene, fleeing officers and entering the residence through a rear door.
 
Baker also admitted to not exiting the house when commanded as he responded he did not wish to be caught.
 
Baker was booked into Washington County Jail on the charges of burglary of an unoccupied dwelling, resisting an officer and leaving the scene of an accident.
