Kate Smith Elementary School in Chipley, Florida annually celebrates ‘Read Across America’ this week and designates certain days featuring Dr. Suess books.

Monday is ‘hat day’ with a focus on “The 500 Hats of Batholomew Cubbins”.

Tuesday is ‘Wocket in My Pocket’ day and a stuffed animal that fits in your pocket or backpack is suggested accompaniment for students.

Wednesday is an opportunity to dress whacky, while Thursday is ‘Daisy Head Mayzie Day’, with crazy hairstyles.

Friday finishes the week with pajamas to school because Dr. Suess says, “I am Not Going to Get Up Today!”.

Thursday, March 2, 2023 is Dr. Suess’s birthday, and Kona Ice will visit the school to sell to the children snow cones, but the school will furnish ice pops for those who cannot or do not wish to buy a Kona Ice.
