On Monday, March 13, around midnight, deputies responded to call that someone had been shot at the home of Juan-Luis Cervantes just outside of Cottondale.
When deputies arrived on scene, they discovered that a female victim had been shot in the head and was being transported to a hospital by EMS.
After further investigation and talking to witnesses, Cervantes was determined to have been the shooter, but had fled in his silver Toyota.
A region-wide BOLO was placed for Cervantes and his vehicle.
Deputies, along with FDLE, worked throughout the day Monday to process the scene and gather evidence.
Around 6 p.m., dispatch received an anonymous tip from a citizen stating that Cervantes’ vehicle was seen just outside of Sneads.
After dispatchers verified the tag number with the citizen, a Sneads Police Officer stopped the vehicle, and Cervantes was arrested.
He is being charged with attempted murder, with more charges pending.
The victim is alive, but currently in critical condition.
