Lizzie Maye Rathel 73, of Chipley, FL went home to be with the Lord on March 26, 2023, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
Lizzie was born on July 10, 1949, in Chipley, Florida to Robert Henry Newsome and Mary Elizabeth Holley. A lifelong resident of Chipley, Lizzie devoutly attended the Church of God of Prophesy; she loved her church. Lizzie loved all people and spending time with her family. She displayed her true southern hospitality in her love of cooking. Lizzie was known to always have a smile on her face and the world will be a little less bright without that sweet smile.
Lizzie was preceded in death by her parents: Robert and Mary Holley; husband: Robert Rathel; brother: Robert Newsome Jr.; sisters: Earnestine Kirland, Linda Rhodes.
She is survived by her sisters: Christine Newsome of Chipley, FL, Barbara Smith (Wayne) of Graceville, FL; Wanda Jordan of Groveland, FL; host of nieces, nephews, and friends.
Service will be held 2 PM Wednesday, March 29, 2023, at Church of God of Prophesy in Chipley, Florida with Bro. Ernie Dupree officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery in Chipley, Florida. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.
Family will receive friends for visitation one hour prior to the service at the church
