“This is a TEST of the Emergency Alert System. No action is required.”
This message stated that the emergency alert system was just being tested, but many people in Florida thought some action might be required- such as perhaps the firing of whoever decided to test the emergency alert system at 4:45 a.m.
The test was a scheduled alert from the Florida Association of Broadcasters, which alternates alerts between 1:50 p.m. and 4:50 a.m. each month.
