West Florida Electric Cooperative today announced that George Clayton Owens, Trustee for District 6 of the cooperative for the past dozen years, has successfully won re-election, facing two political newcomers vying for that position and winning with an almost 2-to-1 margin.
Owens ran on a platform of proven leadership, education, fiscal responsibility and trust, and took the opportunity to publicly thank the members of the Electric Cooperative for their faith and trust in him as their elected representative on Thursday, April 20, 2023.
‘I continually say that I don’t take my duties as a Trustee, and the representation of my constituents, lightly’, said Owens ‘and I want to thank each and every member for their faith in me, and for re-electing me as their representative’.
Owens has served as District 6 Trustee for West Florida Electric Cooperative for the past twelve years, and encourages all members of the cooperative, and especially families, to join the fun in Graceville, at the Annual Meeting, on April 29, 2023.
‘This is an opportunity to learn more about the cooperative, to meet your coop representatives and to enjoy a day of relaxation, all courtesy of your power provider’, said Owens.
The event will include inflatables for the kids, electrical equipment demonstrations, free BBQ lunch, a health fair, Gospel music and a day of relaxation.
‘I look forward to this event each year’, said Owens, ‘and look forward to seeing many old friends and making some new ones as well’.
Owens is a longtime and respected Washington County, Florida businessman, pioneering silviculture and silvopasture methods of cattle farming.
