Chipley, Florida Police Department Arrests Tyrell Blackmon, 23 of Chipley on Charges of Felony Firearm, marijuana, Resisting Arrest

On April 20, 2023, the Chipley Police Department received a dispatch indicating a possible burglary in progress at the location of Bennett Drive at the corner of Coggin Avenue.
 
Officer responded to the residence after the caller indicated that a subject had entered the residence through a window.
 
Officers arrived on scene and began to attempt to make contact with occupants of the residence, while an officer was knocking at the front door a male subject exited the rear door and was observed by an officer.
 
The officer observed the male subject had on a black backpack and was carrying a firearm in his hand, the male then ran.
 
Officers on scene gave chase and was assisted by the Washington County Sheriff’s Office.
 
The subject was apprehended, shortly afterward.
 
At the end of the foot pursuit the subject threw a small fanny pack that contained an amount of U.S. currency in small denominations and refused to identify himself to law enforcement.
 
The subject was detained pending further investigation at that time.
 
A trace of the pursuit route found the firearm concealed along the route as well as the backpack, which contained 310 grams of marijuana, broken down into160 individually packaged baggies for sale.
 
The male subject was identified as Tyrell Blackmon, 23, of Chipley and was charged with violations of Florida Statute:
 
Possession of Marijuana with intent to sell or distribute
Possession of Marijuana greater than 20 grams
Possession of a Firearm during the commission of a Felony
Open Carry of a Firearm
Resisting an Officer without violence
