The Washington County, Florida Library was joined by members of the Washington County Health Department on Tuesday, May 16, 2023 in a ribbon-cutting ceremony, as seen in the photos (below) by Photography students at Florida Panhandle Technical College.
The FPTC students were joined by dignitaries, including the Chamber of Commerce, the City of Chipley, the Washington County Commission, the Washington County Sheriff’s Office and other community partners.
The occasion was the kickoff of the ‘Born Learning Trail’ on the Library property on Hwy 90 in downtown Chipley, stemming from an effort to rid some of the electronic clutter in families and promote a fun and healthy outdoor environment in which to learn.
The Born Learning Trail is a series of 10 interactive signs that offer fun, active learning activities for young children and their families, and the design helps parents, caregivers and communities create quality engagement opportunities.
Signs are available in English and Spanish and translations can also be made to most other languages.
There is a need for additional partnerships, to enable to construction and implementation of additional sites for the learning tools.
