On Saturday, May 27 around 2:45 p.m. deputies saw a vehicle traveling eastbound on Highway 90, near Merritt’s Mill Pond, at a high rate of speed.

Deputies also saw that the driver, later identified as Kelyn Decar Parramore, was not wearing a seatbelt.

The vehicle then pulled into the upper parking lot of Spring Creek and Parramore quickly exited the vehicle and opened the trunk.

Deputies then discovered that Parramore’s driver’s license is suspended, and he is a registered sex offender.

A K-9 deputy assigned to a security detail at Spring Creek was called to assist, and K-9 Dutch immediately alerted to the presence of a controlled substance near the driver’s seat of the vehicle.

When deputies searched the vehicle, they found a glass smoking pipe and methamphetamine.

Parramore was arrested and is being charged with Driving While License Suspended or Revoked, Possession of a Controlled Substance and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Throughout the summer months, Sheriff Edenfield will have deputies stationed at Spring Creek, Turner’s Landing and Magnolia Landing for the safety of the public utilizing these areas.

The Jackson County Sheriff’s Office has a zero-tolerance policy for the possession and use of illegal drugs, especially in a public recreational area.
