A disturbance has formed over the Gulf of Mexico and has been given a low chance (20%) of formation over the next 48 hours. The main concern at this time is heavy rain tomorrow south of I-10.
An area of low pressure has formed over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico in association with disorganized showers and thunderstorms displaced to its northeast.
Environmental conditions appear marginally favorable for some slow development over the next day or two as the system meanders over the northeastern Gulf of Mexico.
However, by this weekend environmental conditions are forecast to become unfavorable for additional development as the system drifts southeastward towards the Florida Peninsula.
For our area, heavy rainfall mainly focused along and south of the I-10 corridor with gusty conditions are the expected threats through early Friday.
This system is expected to stay south of us, so this will likely be the only briefing email covering this event.
