David Aulton Enfinger passed from this life on Sunday, June 11, 2023, surrounded by family.

He was born in Holmes County on August 9, 1946, to the late Clarence Aulton Enfinger and Ann Ackermann Enfinger.

A life long resident of the Florida Panhandle, David was an avid outdoorsman, a founding member of the Florida Trappers Association, an integral part of the congregation of Bonnett Pond Community Church, an active volunteer at the Florida Folk Festival and a skilled gardener who shared his bounty with friends and neighbors.

He was preceded in death by his parents Aulton and Ann Enfinger, sister, Cecilia Ann “Dee Dee” Padgett, uncle John H. Ackermann, and nephew, Kenneth Padgett.

Survivors include his beloved wife of 56 years, Judy Roberts Enfinger; his daughter, Amy Alderman, and husband, Luke, of Altha, FL, and their children: Anna, Kathrine, Seth and wife, Kate; son, Thaddeus Enfinger, and wife, Jessica, of Chesapeake Beach, MD, and their children: Emilia, David, Joseph, Tyler and fiancée, Amanda Jenkins; brother, Danny Enfinger and wife, June, of Tallahassee, FL; and nieces and nephews: Chuck Padgett, Twila Geraci, Martha Padgett, and Judd Enfinger.

A 1964 graduate of Ponce de Leon High School, David spent his life charting his own course through the hills and valleys of life. He worked as a cartographer with the Department of Transportation, a professional fur trapper and a nuisance control alligator hunter.

He was also a skilled carpenter who built his own home and provided new homes and custom cabinetry to folks throughout the Southeast. He enjoyed farming, planting an abundance of peas, corn, okra and other vegetables that he shared with anyone he knew. He was a true Renaissance Man who lived a full life and found great joy in sharing his time, talents and the fruit of his hands with family, friends and neighbors.

A memorial service will be held on Friday, June 30, at 11:00 a.m. at Bonnett Pond Community Church, 2680 Bonnett Pond Road, Chipley, FL.  The celebration of his life will continue following the service with visitation and dinner in the fellowship hall. Come celebrate with us as we honor a life well lived.
