On Monday, June 19, employees of Ford Farms found a man, later identified as Michael Armon Holton, attempting to break into a chemical shed on the property.
When Holton saw the employees, he fled on foot into a corn field. Deputies were called and immediately surrounded the field.
While deputies were securing the scene, dispatch received a call stating that there was a suspect with an AR-15 at Marianna High School.
Dispatchers quickly discovered that this call came from the same corn field Holton was hiding in, and this was determined to be a false report called in by Holton in an attempt to distract deputies.
Both the Drone Team and K-9 Tracking Unit were called to the scene and a track was established.
The drone team located Holton on the north side of the field from the air, and the K-9 Tracking Unit arrested him shortly after.
Holton is being charged with Criminal Mischief More than $1000, Burglary and Misuse of 911.
He is also being held on his outstanding warrants for Grand Theft, Possession of Methamphetamine and Providing False Information to Law Enforcement.
