When hearing of the need for software at Florida Panhandle Technical College in the Digital Video Technology and Television Production Technology programs, Washington County School Board Member Cheryl Williams immediately offered to purchase the software, as a matter of face offering to purchase multiple copies of the required programs, enabling several students to complete the program in preparation for a well-paid career in television, photography, radio or audio production and a variety of other fields.
This is the second year that Williams has participated, underscoring her concern and love for Washington County students, as befits her position as an elected school district official.
Contacting public figures this year as well as last, Florida Panhandle Technical College Instructor Paul Goulding explained that the technical college is experiencing a shortfall in funding, with several less-than-painless changes in procedures, presenting challenges to students and educators alike.
When hearing of the need, Williams, along with Chipley, Florida City Councilman Tommy Sasser and Washington County, Florida Superintendent of Schools Joe Taylor immediately offered to purchase the software.
‘Thanks to these benefactors’, says Goulding, ‘Our students will have the opportunity to follow their dreams and career paths, successfully complete these technical programs, secure well-paid jobs and become taxpayers. Thanks to all of you’.
