Washington County, Florida Emergency Management Advises of Widespread Thunderstorms and Flooding on July 14, 2023

Washington County, Florida Emergency Management advises of widespread showers and thunderstorms,  expected over the next few days, with increased confidence that some areas will see flooding.

Numerous rounds of showers and thunderstorms over the next few days will result in an increasing flood threat across the region.

In fact, our Florida Panhandle, Southeast Alabama and extreme Southwest Georgia counties are in a Slight Risk (level 2 out of 4) for excessive rainfall today and tomorrow.

The remainder of the area is under a Marginal Risk. The Marginal Risk then continues for the entire area over the weekend. 

In addition, the heat ridge that has been plaguing the southwestern U.S. will build east across the Gulf Coast states likely resulting in daily heat advisories. Excessive heat warnings cannot be ruled out beginning on Wednesday.

Heat advisories are issued when heat indices are expected to reach the 108-112 degree range. Warnings are issued for heat indices over 112.
