Tropical Storm Don has now strengthened and is moving west-northwestward, with movement toward the US mainland, but does not at this time present danger to Florida.
As of Thursday, July 20, 2023 morning, Tropical Storm Don was located 855 miles west-southwest of the Azores, with maximum sustained winds of 50 mph, moving west-northwest at 7 mph.
The National Hurrican Center says that this general motion should continue with an increase in forward speed during the next couple of days.
Tropical Storm Don is later expected to turn northward over the weekend, with slight strengthening expected during the next day or so, followed by little change in strength through Saturday.
Don will not pose a threat to Florida. It is the fourth named storm of the 2023 hurricane season.
