Washington County, Florida Emergency Management Warns of Regional Thunderstorms, Wind, Flooding on Friday, August 4, 2023

Local special events, festivals and celebrations may be impacted this weekend as a return to a more active weather pattern is expected today (Friday, August 4, 2023) with an increase in showers and thunderstorms.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed the entire region in a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather for today and tonight.

Isolated damaging winds are the primary threat as clusters of storms move across the area from northwest to southeast.

There is also a marginal risk for excessive rainfall, with isolated flash flooding possible. 

Several clusters of thunderstorms are possible today, moving across the tri-state region from northwest to southeast.

The Storm Prediction Center has placed the entire region under a Marginal Risk (Level 1 of 5) for severe weather today.

The primary risk with these clusters of storms will be isolated damaging winds.

The most likely time frame for the strongest storms will be from midday through early evening.

However, scattered storms will be possible throughout the day.

With a very moist air mass in place and the potential for several complexes of thunderstorms from this morning through tonight, there is some potential for isolated Flash Flooding, especially in normally flood prone areas.
