Dangerous heat will continue through the weekend.
The most dangerous heat indices today near 113 degrees are expected across portions of the Florida panhandle and big bend where an Excessive Heat Warning is in effect.
These dangerously high heat index values will expand to cover a greater area this weekend.
In addition, strong to severe storms are possible this afternoon across most of the area with damaging wind the main threat.
The Storm Prediction Center has outlined a marginal risk (Level 1 of 5) across a large portion of the area.
