On Saturday, Sept. 2, 2023, around 6:30 p.m., deputies responded to Walmart after receiving a report of a retail theft.
The caller told deputies that he saw a woman cutting open a box with a knife and stealing a watch.
When deputies arrived, they saw the suspect in the passenger seat of a vehicle being driven by a man leaving the parking lot.
When deputies attempted to stop the vehicle, he fled onto Highway 71 at a high rate of speed.
The suspect continued fleeing from deputies into Calhoun County, and both the Calhoun County Sheriff’s Office and Florida Highway Patrol were notified and responded. Upon entering Altha, the vehicle crashed.
When deputies and troopers made contact with the driver, he was identified as Pierre Metcalfe, who had active warrants out of Calhoun and Liberty Counties.
It was also discovered that Metcalfe did not have a valid driver’s license.
When deputies searched the vehicle, they located methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia.
Deputies also located the stolen watch inside the passenger, Kelly Skinner’s, purse.
Deputies arrested both Metcalfe and Skinner, and they were transported to the Calhoun County jail.
Metcalfe is being charged in Jackson County with Driving with no Valid Driver’s License and Aggravated Fleeing and Eluding.
Skinner is being charged with Permitting an Unauthorized Person to Drive with other charges pending. Both will also face charges in Calhoun County.
