Is This the Final Week of Summer, and Could Cooler Air Be On The Way?

By | September 17, 2023

As we enter our last week of summer, could cooler air be on the way?

We’ve undeniably had a hot summer in Southwest Florida, with temperatures above average most days.

The week ahead looks somewhat promising on “cooler air” or slightly below average for this time of year.

We are tracking two cold fronts to head into Florida this week.

We normally start to see cold fronts approach Florida this time of year, but they don’t usually make it this far south.

That will be the case with the first front. Just as the cold front reaches humid air in Central Florida, it will start to stall out.

However, the drier air behind the front will help the next front,1-2 days later, make it a little further south.

This will help give us our first taste of fall later in the week, with lows in the lower 70s and highs just below 90.

As for Sunday’s forecast, temperatures will start out in the mid-upper 70s in the early morning and will rise into the lower 90s in the afternoon.

You can expect a mix of sun and clouds along with spotty showers/t-storms.

Rain chances will be low in the morning and then increase to 40% in the afternoon.

The evening will be drier as the clouds clear out.
