Voters in Washington County, Florida now have reason to feel positive about the state of the Supervisor of Elections office in that county, as Florida Governor Ron DeSantis has appointed Deidre Pettis as replacement Supervisor of Elections.

The office was mostly vacant for several years with poor health of the previous supervisor and Pettis is expected to bring a vitality and renewed sense of direction to that office.

Pettis, of Chipley, is an E911 Assistant for the Washington County Board of County Commissioners.

She has been employed in public service for over 15 years.

Pettis attended Northwest Florida State College.

Applicants for the position were plentiful and the decision was probably less than easy for the Governor, but the decision was a sound one, and we wish Ms. Pettis all the best as she embarks on improving the office.
