The 70th Annual Cubmobile Derby on Saturday, October 21, 2023 at the National Peanut Festival Fairgrounds in Dothan, Alabama, saw great participation from the participants as well as competitors, as seen in these photos from the 2022 event by Paul Goulding Photography.
Trophies and cash prizes are awarded in this event, a totally volunteer-driven opportunity for the community to come together and enjoy creativity, family time, good sportsmanship, competition and fellowship.
The National Peanut Festival board of directors work the event alongside a large group of dedicated volunteers, many of whom have been involved with the event for decades.
The Cubmobile Derby is designed as an adult-child program, with an adult expected to help in the construction of the car.
This event is intended to be a learning experience and provide both adult and child the opportunity to form confidence in one another, while demonstrating the importance of sportsmanship and individual pride.
