A report of a suspicious vehicle ended in the arrest of an Elba, AL man on felony drug charges this morning.
Washington County Sheriff’s Communication Center received a call, early this morning, regarding a vehicle sitting stationary on Elkcam Rd. and the occupant of the vehicle was pounding on the front door of their home. The owners of the home asked the male to leave, and he did not comply.
As WCSO deputies responded to the area, a car matching the description of the reported vehicle was located. The driver, later identified as Timothy Brandon Bowers, 38, was sitting inside the vehicle with a blank look on his face and a parrot on his shoulder. As the deputy was speaking to Bowers, he witnessed several weapons within close proximity to Bowers and was asked to exit the vehicle. Bowers began arguing, was non-compliant with orders and combative with officers. Deputies deployed a department issued taser in an attempt to detain Bowers. A short time later Bowers was detained. Bowers stated to deputies there was nothing wrong with him, he was just high, and his drug of choice was mushrooms.
A search of the vehicle resulted in deputies locating several illegal items. The parrot in question did not appear to be injured, was secured in a pet carrier, and transported by WC Animal Control.
Bowers was transported by WC EMS to a local hospital for evaluation, once cleared Bowers was then transported to the Washington County Jail where he was booked on charges of 2 counts-possession of a controlled substance, 2 counts of battery on LEO, resisting an officer with violence, possession of drug paraphernalia and trespassing.
