New Driving Law Takes Effect on January 1, 2024, With Which All Drivers Must Abide

Police are cracking down on an existing Florida law by expanding its rules starting January 1, 2024.

The state’s Move Over Law now has three additional situations that will require drivers to switch lanes.

Starting January 1, it will be mandatory for drivers to move over when a disabled motor vehicle is stopped and displaying warning lights or hazard lights.

Another situation in which people behind the wheel of a vehicle must move over is when a disabled vehicle is stopped and is using emergency flares or posting emergency signage.

The third new situation that will call for Florida drivers to move over is when a disabled vehicle is stopped and one or more people are visibly present.

The expanded Move Over Law that’s hitting Floridians in a few days isn’t the only new road regulation affecting drivers as Americans go into the new year.

New speed cameras will automatically issue tickets to drivers going at least 11 mph over the speed limit, and they will be placed around schools, high-injury intersections, and known street racing areas for increased safety.

One new law in the state will ban teleconferencing, video chats, or video streaming while driving, some reports say.
