Historically, Valentine’s Day (February 14), is the day when lovers express their affection with greetings and gifts.
With origins in the Roman festival of Lupercalia, which celebrated the coming of spring and included fertility rites and other activities, Lupercalia was replaced by St. Valentine’s Day at the end of the 5th century.
