Panama City Beach Officials Pass Ordinance Restricting Spring Breakers Access to Beach

By | March 18, 2024

Panama City Beach is restricting Beach access from Entry 25 to 36, including the areas behind Pineapple Willies and the Shores of Panama, from 10PM to 4AM during Spring Break.

This is the result of a meeting on Thursday, March 14, 2024 of the Panama City Beach City Council, when officials heard the second reading and then passed an ordinance, closing a portion of the beach from March 15 to April 30.

PCB Police Chief Talamantez says that the crowds of young Spring Breakers takes officers away from answering other service calls, lengthening 911 response time and jeopardizing public safety.

“When you have three, four or 5000 kids in one specific location, it takes a vast amount of resources down there to ensure that everybody’s following the law and doing what they’re supposed to do,” Talamantez said.

‘This law is in place for a reason, if you don’t follow that law, there will be consequences’, Talamantez said. ‘You could be taken into custody and given a fine, but we don’t want it to get to that point, all right, 10PM should get cut off time.

‘Get back to your hotel room, goes out to eat, go to a local establishment, come back the next morning, enjoy our beautiful area. There’s not there’s not has to be controversy. We won’t start the controversy as long as it’s not brought to us’.
