Mary Virginia Spears Chance, age 91, formerly of Bonifay, Florida passed away March 26, 2024, at her home in Chumuckla, Florida.
She was born February 5, 1933, in Bonifay, Florida to the late Bryant Harvey Spears and Palmer Dora Carter Spears.
She spent 30 years of her life educating young minds, leaving an indelible mark on her community.
Virginia began teaching at Bonifay Elementary School where her love of learning and guidance flourished.
Her dedication to education led her to serve as the Elementary Curriculum Coordinator for the Holmes County School Board, where she continued to impact the lives of students and teachers, alike.
Outside of her professional career, Virginia was a devoted member of the First Baptist Church Bonifay, where she enjoyed teaching Childrens’ Sunday School and singing in the church choir.
She also enjoyed playing the piano as well as spending time in the kitchen cooking for family and friends. To all those who knew Virginia, her love and devotion will be greatly missed.
Mrs. Chance is survived by her husband of 65 years, James N. ‘Son’ Chance; her two daughters, Melody Parish and husband Bill of Bonifay, FL and Faith Flock and husband Andrew of Chumackla, FL; two grandchildren, Chance Pender and Ginger Flock.
A graveside service will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday, March 28, 2024, in the Bonifay Cemetery with Rev. John Chance officiating.
