Lonnie Ray Segers 66, of Chipley, Florida passed from this life on April 2, 2024, at Southeast Health in Dothan, Alabama.
Lonnie was born on December 14, 1957 in Bonifay, Florida to Manual Segers and Ovilia Barnes. He served in the United States Army for 26 years and worked for the Washington County School Board as the ROTC teacher for 19 years. Lonnie had a true servant’s heart and would not hesitate to help those in need. He enjoyed being outdoors and loved to fish as often as he could. Lonnie’s exuberant spirit and jokes will be sorely missed by those who knew and loved him.
He was preceded in death by his parents: Manual and Ovilia Segers; grandfather: Willie Walter Barnes.
He is survived by his loving wife of 17 years: Sherrie L. Segers of Chipley, FL; sons: Caleb Segers (Karen) of Bonifay, FL, John Segers of Chipley, FL, Landon Segers of Chipley, FL; daughters: Misty Segers of Bonifay, FL, Monica Hall (Jason) of Chipley, FL; Meagan Sanders of Graceville,FL, Valley Segers of Chipley, FL; grandchildren: Lily Killingsworth, Emma Segers, Taylor Segers, Parker Segers, Leelan Segers, Harper Sanders, Heath Segers, Hattie Segers, Ellis Hall, Oliana Segers, Ty Hall, Melody Segers, Nautika and Kytralina Jefferson; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and raised many kids through the ROTC.
Funeral service will be held 11 AM Saturday, April 6, 2024 at Obert Funeral Home in Chipley, Florida (731 Kirkland Road) with Pastor Shane Obert officiating. Interment will follow in Glenwood Cemetery. Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida directing.
The family will receive friends for visitation 10 AM – 11 AM at Obert Funeral Home Chapel (731 Kirkland Road Chipley, Florida)
