On Saturday, April 20, 2024, around 7 p.m., deputies received information that Timothy Summerlin, who had warrants out of Jackson and Bay Counties, was at a local motel.
When deputies arrived at the motel, they located the room Summerlin was in and saw several other people, including a child, in the room with Summerlin.
Summerlin was arrested and escorted to a patrol vehicle. While walking to the vehicle, Summerlin told deputies there were hypodermic needles in the room because he “shoots up.”
Deputies returned to the room and asked for consent for K-9 Rocky to conduct a sniff of the room, and they agreed.
K-9 Rocky and deputies located a glass methamphetamine smoking pipe with methamphetamine residue, approximately 21 used hypodermic needles, and 32 clear plastic baggies with methamphetamine residue. All these items were within reach and readily available to the child inside the room.
Summerlin was arrested for his warrants and is additionally being charged with Neglect of a Child and Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.
