Linda Gainey Smock, author of Just Call Me Honey, will be the featured speaker at the Friends of the Library meeting at 12:00 noon on May 2nd at the Washington County Public Library.
She will also read the book for children at 9:00 a.m. Books will be available for purchase after both events.
Smock graduated from Chipley High School (1964) and holds degrees and certifications from Chipola Junior College, Florida State University, the University of South Florida, and the University of Florida.
Her special interests include native Florida plants and insects that pollinate those plants.
Just Call Me Honey is a book for ages 3-10. It starts with, “ Hi, my name is Busy Bee. You can just call me Honey. That’s what my Momma does. She’s the queen.”
Honey then tells the children about her family, the life cycle of honey bees, how they make honey, and how they make beeswax. The book is educational while being entertaining, fun, and interactive.
Smock is also the author of other books available at the Washington County Library. These include Homespun Devotion, More Homespun Devotion, Even More Homespun Devotion, Homespun Prayers, and Homespun Gratitude. She has also authored several textbooks and ancillary materials.
