On May 2, 2024, a traffic stop on Hwy 81 was conducted by a deputy with the HCSO resulted in the arrest of two individuals and the seizure of illegal narcotics.
The stop, initiated on a Toyota car being driven by Derek Hann, saw the utilization of Bonifay PD K9 Buck to conduct a free air sniff. K9 Buck promptly alerted to the presence of illegal narcotics within the vehicle.
A subsequent search uncovered LSD, a set of scales, and drug paraphernalia.
Both Derek Hann and the passenger, identified as Don Weatherford, were arrested at the scene and transported to the county jail for processing. Upon arrival at the jail, a strip search was conducted on Weatherford, revealing 43 grams of MDMA concealed on his person.
