Drivers will encounter traffic disruptions on the following state roads in Holmes and Washington counties as crews perform construction and maintenance activities.
Holmes County:
- State Road (S.R.) 2 Resurfacing from Choctawhatchee River Bridge to County Road (C.R.) 177 and from Ten Mile Creek to the Jackson County Line – Drivers will encounter alternating lane closures on S.R. 2, between the Choctawhatchee River Bridge and the Jackson County line, Monday, May 13 through Friday, May 17, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for paving work.
Washington County:
- U.S. 90 Resurfacing from Four-Lane to the Jackson County Line – Motorists will encounter intermittent shoulder closures Monday, May 13 through Friday, May 17 from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. for sodding operations.
- U.S. 90 Resurfacing from east of Holmes Creek Bridge to S.R. 277 – Motorists may encounter intermittent lane closures Monday, May 13 through Friday, May 17 from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m. for paving operations. Directional signage and traffic flaggers will be used to safely direct drivers through these work zones.
- S.R. 77 from Bay County Line to north of Moss Hill Road – Drivers will encounter the following traffic impacts:
- S.R. 77 drivers will shift to the new northbound lanes from south of the Bay County Line to north of Shoreline Drive beginning 9 a.m. Wednesday, May 15 to allow crews to complete the new southbound lanes.
- C.R. 279 motorists will shift to a temporary detour near the S.R. 77 intersection beginning 9 a.m. Thursday, May 16, to allow crews to construct the new roadway. S.R. 77 traffic will not be affected. The detour is expected to remain in place through late 2024. Traffic control devices will assist in directing motorists through the work zones.
All activities are weather dependent and may be delayed or rescheduled in the event of inclement weather. Drivers are reminded to use caution, especially at night, when traveling through a work zone and to watch for construction workers and equipment entering and exiting the roadway.
