On May 11, 2024, at approximately 10:52 am, the Chipley Police Department received a call for service regarding a disturbance at 689 Pecan Street.
The complainant reported that the other party involved, identified as Paul Revere Wright, was attempting to set the house on fire.
In response, officers from the Chipley Police Department, along with personnel from the Chipley Fire Department, and the Washington County Sheriff’s Office, rushed to the scene.
Upon the arrival of the Fire Department, the residence was found to be fully engulfed in flames. Firefighters succeeded in extinguishing the blaze.
However, the structure sustained significant damage to its interior as a result of the incident.
Following the suppression of the fire, the State Fire Marshal’s Office was summoned to the scene to conduct an investigation and gather evidence pertaining to the cause of the fire.
Paul Wright was located nearby and was taken into custody by law enforcement officers. He has been arrested on charges of Arson in the First Degree: Dwelling People Present.
