Possible severe storms and heavy rainfall is expected during the day on Friday and may continue into Saturday.
A Marginal (1 of 5) Risk for severe storms is possible for Friday for our Central Time Zone counties, including Liberty and Franklin Counties in FL. It would appear that another MCS event, capable of producing all hazards such as damaging winds, tornadoes, and hail, is possible.
Heavy rain is also expected to accompany these storms.
The counties west of the Flint and Apalachicola Rivers are highlighted in a Slight (2 of 4) risk for Excessive Rainfall with areas to the east, excluding the Southeast Big Bend, in a Marginal (1 of 4) Risk for excessive rainfall on Friday.
The heavy rain threat continues into Saturday with a Marginal (1 of 4) Risk highlighting the entire region. It could be possible to see an upgrade to a Slight Risk in the excessive rainfall outlook for Saturday.
Forecast rainfall totals are currently about 1-3 inches area wide, with isolated higher amounts.
The timing is subject to change as we are still several days out, but the best timing for these storms will be from Friday afternoon through the overnight hours into Saturday.
Saturday’s severe weather potential will be dependent on how Friday pans out.
