Brian James Propes, 42, of Chipley Fl passed away on April 27, 2024 at his residence.
Brian was born on May 1, 1981 at MacDill Air Force Base in Tampa Florida to James F. Propes and Barbara A. Propes (nee James).
He served his country in the United States Army, and was very proud to have been pursuing a career in management at Wal-Mart before relocating and going into management at Hungry Howie’s in Panama City Fl. where he felt like he had come back home, and rapidly acquired a 2nd family, his work family, who he always looked forward to seeing, (even if he didn’t act like it.)
Brian had previously worked as an over the road truck driver, and happily spent a whole year on the road with his bonus dad Henry, training him on the ins and outs of the life of an OTR trucker, and really enjoyed the time they were able to spend together.
He loved his family dearly, and would not hesitate to help out in any capacity he could. When he wasn’t working he enjoyed his XBOX gaming family, and spent a lot of time with them, always looking forward to the competition and friendly “trash talking” late into the night, especially his dear friends Scott Koetzle, Nic Vera, and Eric Guynn, whom he loved and considered brothers.
Brian’s always been a cat person, but had grown to tolerate the family dogs Sadie and Simon, who were always waiting at the door for him when he got home from work, so they could sit on the back porch with him and he could tell them about his day.
He will be missed dearly by his family and friends, and has made a final request:
“Never miss an opportunity to tell someone you love them, make sure they know.”
Brian was a member of Carlisle Baptist Church in Callaway Fl. and was extremely happy and proud to be baptized Jan. 22, 2023, and was very thankful to Ron Farris for bringing Jesus back into his life.
Brian is survived by his mother, Barbara James Cutting and his bonus dad Henry Cutting, his father James Propes, stepmother Gladys Martin Villareal-Propes, her children Arnold, Arnelle, and Arielle Calangan, his sister Jessica Brannon, her husband Rusty, who is the closest thing Brian will ever have to a brother, their children Hailey Fabjon, Jade and Michael Brannon, his sister Rebecca Propes, her children Conner Propes, Paige, Summerlyn and Zachary Herring, and his sister Patricia Propes and her daughters Alexis Galipeau and Jazlyn Kendrick, cousins Sarah K James, Lindsay James Trujillo, his beloved Granny, Katherine James, who ALWAYS had his back, and numerous other family members.
Memorialization will be by cremation with Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida in charge of arrangements. Memorial service will be at a later date.
