On 5/29/24, HCSO communications was notified that Samson PD was in pursuit of a vehicle southbound on Highway 81.
Before deputies could arrive in the area, Samson PD advised they had cancelled the pursuit in the area of Highway 185.
An HCSO deputy was patrolling in the area and observed the suspect vehicle traveling east on Highway 185. The deputy attempted to stop the vehicle, which initiated another pursuit. The suspect vehicle turned south on Highway 81 and continued to flee at speeds exceeding 90 mph.
Another HCSO deputy set up on Highway 81 and Bradley Road and successfully deployed stop sticks.
The suspect vehicle traveled another mile or two before stopping, at which point the driver fled into the woods on foot, carrying a black bag.
The Holmes CI K9 team was notified and responded, beginning to track the suspect. The suspect, identified as Taylor Carroll, was apprehended.
The black bag was recovered and found to contain methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug paraphernalia.
Carroll faces charges of fleeing and attempting to elude, reckless driving, driving while license suspended, possession of methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia.
