On Tuesday, May 28, around 6 p.m., a Jackson County Sheriff’s Office deputy attempted to make a traffic stop on a motorcycle for speeding.
When the deputy activated their emergency lights, the motorcycle sped up, but eventually came to a stop due to running out of gas or mechanical difficulties.
When deputies made contact with the driver, Willie Sawyer, he was unable to provide deputies with a valid driver’s license.
Upon further investigation, deputies discovered that Sawyer’s driver’s license has been revoked since 2010, and he has two prior convictions for Driving While License Suspended or Revoked Knowingly.
When deputies searched the motorcycle, they located two plastic baggies with approximately 24 grams of methamphetamine.
Sawyer was arrested and is being charged with Driving While License Suspended or Revoked Knowingly, Fleeing and Attempting to Elude, and Trafficking in Methamphetamine.
