Rebecca ‘Becky’ Elisabeth Garner, age 79, of Bonifay, Florida passed away June 2, 2024, at her home. She was born May 31, 1945, in Holmes County, Bonifay, Florida to the late James Clarence Forehand and Lavada Whitaker Forehand.
A beloved member of the Bonifay community and cherished friend passed away leaving a legacy of joy, warmth, and beauty. Born and raised in Bonifay, she was crowned Miss Bonifay in 1963 and graduated from Holmes County High School, where she made lifelong friends.
Becky was a talented and passionate individual. She excelled as a champion tennis player, known for her competitive spirit and grace on the court. Her love for beauty and creativity was evident in her meticulous home decor, which she updated for every season, and her enthusiasm for shopping.
For 20 years, Becky dedicated herself to Child Safety Shelters, the family business, where she worked as a bookkeeper and office manager. Her dedication and meticulous nature made her an invaluable asset to the business.
Becky was also a devoted member of the First Baptist Bonifay, where her faith and kindness were evident to all. An avid world traveler, she explored the globe and maintained lifelong friendships across the United States, sharing her bubbly personality and infectious laughter wherever she went.
Above all, her greatest joy came from her family and friends, whom she loved deeply and unconditionally. Becky will be dearly missed and forever remembered for her generosity, zest for life, and the light she brought into the lives of those who knew her.
Mrs. Garner is survived by her loving husband of 60 years, Earl Garner of Bonifay, FL; two sons, Mike Garner and fiancée Laura of Indianapolis, IN and Jeff Garner and wife Sheryl of Roanoke, VA; two grandchildren, Tyler Garner and wife Taylor and Emily Garner; four brothers, Frank Forehand and wife Jan of Pensacola, FL, James Forehand and wife Celia of Winder, GA, Joe Forehand of Vernon, FL, and Ralph Forehand and Betty of Bonifay, FL; numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Wednesday, June 5, 2024, at First Baptist Bonifay with Dr. Shelly Chandler officiating. Interment will follow in the Bonifay Cemetery with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service from 10 to 11 AM Wednesday at First Baptist Bonifay. The family will be receiving flowers at First Baptist Bonifay.
