Stanley Mason Hewett, age 52 of Bonifay, Florida passed away on Monday, June 3, 2024, at HCA Gulf Coast Hospital in Panama City, Florida.
Born October 18, 1971, in Dothan, Alabama, he was the son of the late Ronald Gary Hewett and Janice Locke Hewett.
Surviving is his wife, Amy Sims Hewett of Bonifay, FL, son, Garrett Mason Hewett, daughter Georgia Fisanick, mother Janice Hewett, brother Gary Steven Hewett and his wife Dawn of Tallahassee, Florida.
Stanley graduated from Vernon High School in 1989.
He then went on to attend Enterprise State Junior College and Troy State University where he earned a Bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice in 1994. Stanley began his career with the Florida Department of Corrections in October of 1994.
He started as a Correctional Officer and later transitioned over to Classification where he served for the next phase of his career.
Stanley rose through the ranks to Classification Supervisor and then went to State Classification. He briefly left the Department for approximately a year to work at Blackwater Correctional Facility.
He came back to the Department in 2017 and remained until he left in October of 2021. Stanley went to work for SRM concrete and worked in that field until his death.
Stanley was a person that was full of life and genuinely loved people. His passions were riding motorcycles, his family, and anything and everything Florida State University.
Stanley was preceded in death by his father, Ronald Gary Hewett.
A Funeral service will be at 10:00 AM (CST) on Friday, June 7, 2024 at Sims Funeral Home with Reverend Tommy Moore officiating. Interment will be at St. John’s Cemetery, Bonifay, FL with Sims Funeral Home directing, immediately following the funeral services.
The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM (CST) on Thursday, June 6, 2024, at Sims Funeral Home Chapel.
