On June 8, 2024, a Holmes County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) deputy conducted a traffic stop on Highway 2, pulling over a vehicle driven by Hunter Taunton for a traffic violation.
During the stop, the deputy detected the odor of burnt marijuana while speaking with Taunton and his passenger, Wrangler Pitts.
This led to a probable cause search of the vehicle, where a prescription bottle with the label removed was found, containing pills that tested positive for fentanyl.
Additionally, a small baggie with similar pills was discovered on the grass nearby.
Both Taunton and Pitts were arrested and charged with possession of fentanyl and drug paraphernalia.
