Beulah Messer Osburn, 89, of Chipley, Florida, passed away peacefully on June 9, 2024. Beulah was born on September 25, 1934, in the small town of Bonifay, Florida. She graduated from Holmes County High School and attended Chipola Junior College.

Beulah married Kenneth Osburn and they were blessed with two children, Michael and Pam. In her younger years, she was active in her community and various civic organizations. She was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star, Women’s Club of Chipley, and Chipley Garden Club. She was also a member of the church First Baptist Chipley.

Throughout her life she was known as Ms. Beulah. She enjoyed being around people and was blessed with the ability to strike up a conversation with anyone. She was feisty, with a unique spirit, unwavering honesty and strong work ethic. Simply put, she called it as she saw it.

She retired from Southern Bell after 29 + years. Her retirement didn’t last long as she yearned to keep busy and stay productive. She went on to work another 22 years at Forestry Transport as the office manager/logistics coordinator.

In her downtime Beulah was one for the simple life. She was an avid reader, enjoyed the company of her dogs and worked in her flower beds. She loved to sing, make ceramics, and paint. She was a fantastic cook of good ol’ southern food and known for her made-from-scratch dishes. Especially her cornbread, gravy, oyster dressing and banana pudding. Still nothing brought her as much joy and happiness as spending time with her children and later becoming a Granna to her grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Beulah was predeceased by her parents, Sam M. Messer and Beulah Pitts Messer and only sister, Lula “Lu” M. Chesson. She is survived by her husband, Kenneth Osburn of Chipley; son, Michael Osburn (Patti) of Tallahassee; Pamela McCrary (Michael) of Chipley; grandsons, Alan Davis and Chad Davis (Somer) of Chipley; granddaughter, Kayla Rae Osburn of Pretoria, South Africa; niece, Stephanie Bailes (Tygh) of Gainesville; and great grandsons, Broxton Davis, Easton Davis, Cooper Davis, and Barrett Davis and as well as other relatives and many friends.

A private service will be held. Interment will be at Meadow Wood Memorial Park in Tallahassee, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorials and donations may be made in Beulah’s honor to The Salvation Army, 2410 Allen Road, Tallahassee, Florida 32312.

The family is being served by Culley’s Funeral Home in Tallahassee, Florida.
