Shirley Faye Ellis, age 76, of Chipley, Florida passed away June 16, 2024, at Chipola Health and Rehabilitation Center in Marianna, Florida.
She was born on September 18, 1947, in Holmes County Florida. Shirley was preceded in death by her father, Fred Mitchell, her mother, Dorothy Estelle Sellers Mitchell, and two brothers, Willie Mack Mitchell and James Edward Mitchell.
If you ever ate at Simbo’s, Blitch’s or Dianne’s in Bonifay then you had Shirley’s cooking. Anyone who knew Shirley would always say, “that’s one hard working woman”. Always doing God’s work here on earth.
She truly had the heart of a servant and never asked for anything in return. She was certainly the proverbial woman we should all strive to be like.
Mrs. Ellis is survived by her husband R.J. Ellis; six children, Randall Marcum, Fred Joseph Marcum, Vera Losee, Michelle Olds, David Marcum, and Wayne Marcum; eight grandchildren, Jessie, Shannon, Kayla, Terry, Aaron, Lana, Kyle, and Lisha; numerous great-grandchildren; two brothers, Dewey Fred Mitchell and Billy Joe Mitchell; numerous nieces and nephews.
Memorialization will be by cremation with Peel Funeral Home and Bonifay Crematory in charge of arrangements.
A memorial service will be held at the Wausau Town Hall in Wausau, Florida on Sunday, June 23, 2024, at 11 am until for family and friends.
