Lynn Wayne Haddock, 68 of Vernon, Florida went home to be with the Lord on June 19, 2024, at his residence surrounded by his loving family and friend, Joe Tharp.
Lynn was born on November 27, 1955 in Bonifay, Florida to Cecil Haddock and Dorothy Dykes Haddock. He was a life-long resident of Vernon and a 1974 graduate of Vernon High School where he participated in the sports program. He was awarded a basketball scholarship to Enterprise Junior College, Enterprise, AL. Lynn was employed by the Washington County School Board and remained active in sports by volunteering as assistant coach for Girl’s basketball at Vernon High School under Coach James Brazell. The girls traveled to state twice and won the state competition in 2000. Lynn was a mechanic, an avid gardener. He enjoyed sharing his produce with friends and family. Repairing tractors for many of his fellow farming friends was a delight. He was an outdoorsman who enjoyed fishing and hunting.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil Edward Haddock and Mary Dorothy Dykes Haddock; brother-in- law, John Franklin Fletcher and great nephew, great nephew, Jeffrey Jordan Fletcher.
He is survived by his loving wife of 34 years, Barbara Gilmore Haddock; son, Josh Haddock (Taylor); daughter, Beth Sheffield (Raymond); sisters, Margaret Fletcher, Betty Nina Spivey (James); brothers, Herbert Haddock (Charlotte) and Edward Haddock; five beloved grandchildren, Layla and Eli Haddock, Nicholas, Mason and Blake Sheffield.
A graveside celebration of Lynn’s life will be held at 10 AM, Saturday, June 22, 2024 at the Haddock Cemetery, 2680 Bonnett Pond Road, Chipley with Rev. James Barwick officiating.
Obert Funeral Home of Chipley, Florida will oversee arrangements.
