Jackson County, Florida Sheriff’s office Receives Accreditation from Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation For First Time History

By | June 25, 2024
Sheriff Donnie Edenfield is proud to announce the Jackson County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) has received accreditation from the Commission for Florida Law Enforcement Accreditation (CFA) for the first time in the history of our agency.

“When we took office in 2021, it was one of our top priorities to achieve accredited status,” Sheriff Edenfield said. “We have dedicated time and personnel to accomplish this goal in an effort to raise the expectations and performance of every employee and better serve the citizens of Jackson County.”

The accreditation process is a comprehensive review of the agency’s policies, procedures, and operations that includes an on-site assessment by CFA assessors. CFA assesses agencies on various standards related to law enforcement practices such as use of force, evidence management, training, and finances.
“Achieving accreditation through CFA is a testament to our staff’s dedication to serving the residents of Jackson County at the highest level,” Sheriff Edenfield said. “I want to thank the Florida Sheriffs Accreditation Assistance Program for helping us achieve this goal.”

The Florida Sheriffs Association established the Florida Sheriffs Accreditation Assistance Program in 2021 to assist Florida sheriffs’ offices in achieving accreditation. The JCSO has worked tirelessly with accreditation coordinators in preparation for this assessment. Accreditation coordinators assisted the JCSO with policy development and review, training requirements, and inspections.

Achieving accredited status demonstrates that the JCSO has met the established standards of high quality and best practices in law enforcement set forth by CFA. The JCSO will continue striving to meet and exceed these expectations for years to come, raising the level of law enforcement services in this county forever.

“I am proud of this collaborative effort from all members of our team,” Sheriff Edenfield said. “We will work diligently to maintain the standards set forth by CFA and continue achieving excellence through integrity, accountability, and professionalism.”
