A Vernon man has been arrested on gun and drug charges following a traffic stop.
During patrol, earlier this morning, a Washington County Sheriff’s Office deputy initiated a traffic stop on Spoolmill Rd. in Vernon.
Contact was made with the driver identified as 32-year-old, Jesse Charles Piechowiak. During the stop deputies smell the odor of narcotics coming from inside the vehicle.
A department issued K-9 was deployed and gave a positive alert to the presence of narcotics coming from inside the vehicle.
A subsequent search of the vehicle resulted in deputies locating a firearm, a couple smoking devices and a clear plastic baggy containing a crystalized substance that later field tested positive for methamphetamine.
Piechowiak was arrested and booked into the Washington County Jail on charges of possession of methamphetamine, possession of a controlled substance, possession of drug paraphernalia and possession of a firearm during the commission of a felony.
